The Village Projects Salutes Dr Betty Smith Williams RN
BSN Nursing Program Designed Specifically for Minority Students to Open in Long Beach, California
Sep 30, 2006 -- Dr. BETTY SMITH WILLIAMS, RN, DrPH, FAAN,is a former Dean of the School of Nursing, University of Colorado School of Nursing, University of Colorado Health Sciences in Denver; Professor Emeritus California State University, Long Beach, former President, National Black Nurses Association, and was featured in The AETNA African-American History Calendar. This distinguished "Scholar Within" will serve as the founding director of the first minority owned School of Nursing approved by the California Board of Registered Nurses i.e. American University of Health Sciences (AUHS) in Long Beach, California. The school has a commitment to academic excellence serving minority populations and is located in North Long Beach. Opening is scheduled for early 2007 with 24 inaugural students. The Village Projects salutes Dr. Betty Smith Williams for daring to step outside the box, to expand diversity dialogues, initiatives, and options for minority success.
