Bellflower, CA -- Mar 4, 2012 --
The Village P.r.o.j.e.c.t.s continues to connect knowledge of the African-American Community with various groups. This month three community leaders are being recognized. Ernesta Wright, Founder and Executive Director of the Green Foundation (http://www.thegreenfoundation.net) has addressed several groups and has moved her organization forward as a leader in community-based health education. Ernesta's work with creating coalitions to increase community knowledge related to early detection and treatment of breast cancer in the African-American Community has not only been the subject of her presentations, but the subject of many others who support her.
Dr. Rachel Plotkin RN continues to build coalitions with local faith-based organizations in Long Beach, California. Her work with these groups goes well beyond her role as he Director, Community Enhancement at St. Mary's Medical Center. Dr. Plotkin is a respected member of the community and has received numerous awards in recognition of her work. Her skillful leadership and coalition-building will lead to measureable changes in the health status of many persons. She is speaking to various groups about her experiences and the outcomes of community outreach.
Dr. Patricia Hinchberger RN works often behind the scenes to connect less affluent persons with persons of affluence who can assist and encourage them. She continues to mentor countless nursing students providing guidance beyond the classroom. She volunteers her time with many organizations to assure equal opportuniites and access to health. Dr. Hinchberger has been an actve supporter of the Village P.r.o.j.e.c.t.s since its inception. She continues to build the network of participants.

“Our solutions are bigger than any one profession or job. We must reclaim our interconnections and learn to freely share information with each other, and to support the success of a new generation. We must create connections and collaborations. Our goal must be to move this system in the direction of caring what happens to persons who need it the most, and we must take our place in that effort. We will find a way to make a difference!"
