The Village P.r.o.j.e.c.t.s Salutes Dr. Cherif Keita
May 28, 2012 --

Dr. Cherif Keita is a Professor of French, and Director of French and Francophone Studies at Carleton College, a private liberal arts college in Northfield, Minnesota. He is also a noted filmmaker and historian bringing African history  into the US College curriculum and connecting a new generation of learners to the realities.  Recently Dr. Keita narrated a program entiltled "Mali: A History in Music," and was the guest of a special interview and display of the photographs of Mali.  The program was aired on Afropop Worldwide - Music and Stories from the African Planet.   The Village P.r.o.j.e.c.t.s salutes Professor Keita for " Standing in The Gap"  as a "Scholar Within,"  bringing history forward.  Visit : afropop.org/multi/interview/ID/171/    to witness Professor Keita's  way of bringing this rich history to his audience.

“Our solutions are bigger than any one profession or job. We must reclaim our interconnections and learn to freely share information with each other, and to support the success of a new generation. We must create connections and collaborations. Our goal must be to move this system in the direction of caring what happens to persons who need it the most, and we must take our place in that effort. We will find a way to make a difference!"
