Long Beach Change-Makers to Receive a "2015 Villager Award"
Lifting as we Climb!
Long Beach, California -- Apr 17, 2015 --

The Village P.r.o.j.e.c.t.s is pleased to announce the 2015 Villager Award Nominees who will be recognized as exemplars of the program theme “Lifting as we Climb.”  

Each nominee brings a compelling life story and an array of strategies for making a difference in their own way that positively impacts the African American community.  These visionaries in action come from various areas of California, the United States, and abroad.  They bring stories that inspire all of us to continue to "Lift as we Climb!"  and they introduce us to a diverse ways of making a difference. Long Beach represents one of the largest concentration of these exemplars.  

 

Other distinguished 2015 Award recipients will include:  Dr. Synthia SAINT JAMES, Manuelita Brown, Jacob Foko, Historic Watts, Dr. Anna McDonald, Calista Kelly,  Dr. Diedre Walton RN, Joyce Oneko, Colonel Irma Hagans-Cooper[US Army Retired], John Brown, Carolyn Kennedy, Dr. Wayne Downey, Ernie Bridges, Ken Hill, Ron Hasson,  Bobby McDonald, Tjuana "Tia" Walker, Dr.Thelma Day, and  Patricia Reed-Cunningham. 

 

Previous Villager Award Recipients include Vice-Admiral Edward Moore Jr.[US Navy Retired], Deborah Moore, Harold L. Williams and Dr. Betty Smith-Williams, Dorothy Paynes RN, George Kelley and Lt. Colonel Patricia Jackson-Kelley [US Army Retired], Robin Thorne, Dr. Thyonne Gordon, Rod Rolle, Sojourner Kincaid-Rolle, Barbara Napper RN, Samira Carr, Nick Terhune, Travis Hicks, Dr. Lovene Knight, Sherrie Sanders, Dr. Elcedo Bradley RN, Dr. Keith O. Hilton, Femi Osibowale, and Autrilla Scott (Posthumous Award Recipient).
